Buccal Fat Removal

Buccal fat removal is a cosmetic surgical procedure aimed at reducing the volume of the buccal fat pads, which are located in the cheeks. Also known as cheek reduction surgery, this procedure is typically performed to achieve a slimmer, more contoured appearance in the mid-face area.

Procedure

During buccal fat removal, the surgeon makes small incisions inside the mouth, near the cheeks. Through these incisions, they access the buccal fat pads and carefully remove a portion of the fat. The amount of fat removed is based on the patient’s desired outcome and facial anatomy. The incisions are then closed with dissolvable sutures, leaving no external visible scars.

Recovery and Aftercare:

After buccal fat removal, patients may experience some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort in the cheeks. Pain medication and cold compresses can help manage these symptoms.

It’s essential to follow the surgeon’s post-operative instructions, including following a soft diet for a few days to avoid strain on the surgical site and avoiding certain activities that could impact the treated areas during the initial recovery period.

Strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks to promote proper healing.
